Abilities within Disability
The term "disability" is made with two word i.e dis+ability, means incapable in the eyes of people of the society. Though the word disability was first noted in 1961 it took almost 22 years to get a proper form. It was coined by Mike Oliver in 1983.
Disability was unnoticed term but it got a new a evolution since 1992 when United Nations started to celebrate as "International day of disability. From that period of time 3rd December is the day for the people with disability. The main aim of celebrating this day is to encourage differently abled people for learning rights, dignity and to make them aware that their presence and involvement could make a huge impact in every aspect of life. 3rd December raises awareness about the rights of inclusiveness of differently abled person in social, economical, political and cultural aspect. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to motivate the people with disability to see their life in a new and positive way. A physical impaired individual could be mentally strong as abled people.
In the word there are lots of well -known people who have earned name and fame through intellectual knowledge, being ea sportsperson, inventor, author and a politician. Stephen Hawking , Helen Killer, Ester verger, Louis Braille, Jhamak kumari Ghimire , etc are the best example to showing that nothing could stop a person for doing the things they are good at it. Stephen Hawking was one of the greatest theoretical physicist of the modern age which proves that physical disability can't be a barrier when we are eager to learn and show our ability.

- Helen Killer: Blind: Deaf, American author, political activist, lecturer and a first blind -deaf graduate in the world.
- Franklin D. Roosevelt: diagnosed with polio and was the 32nd president of United Nations.
- Ester Verger: paralysis in leg, most successful sportsperson as a tennis player in the work
- Louis Braille: Blind, Inventor of Braille script and a French educator.
In the context of Nepal, disability is still taken a weakness of a person, as a result disable person are not included in the field of politics, sports, or any social event in a equal manner. Jhamak Kumari Ghimire is the well-known Nepali writer and a columnist at Newspaper named Kantipur. She was born with cerebral palsy and writes with her left foot. Her journey was not easy as she was never sent to school to attain education , she educated herself by hearing her sisters studying and learnt by writing on the ground though she was never appreciated. She had been rewarded by various a awards in which Madan Puraskar (popular award in Nepalese literature ) for her Auto- biography Jeevan kada ki phool ( Life a thorn or a flower ).

In conclusion, people with disabilities could give a great contribution for the society if they are encouraged and treated equally while giving rights. Ability can only be seen when platform are given to the people with disabilities as well. At last l would like to give a huge respect and solute to the activist who are working hard to provide rights for the people with disability by hoping for the betterment. Lets hope for the best.
