International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2022

Theme-Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis 

          

Drug Abuse is simply defined as the inappropriate use of drug. According to Wikipedia "Drug Abuse is the use of a drug in amount or by methods which are harmful to an  individual or others. Whereas Illicit Trafficking refers to illegal trade of like drugs, stolen goods for selling or buying. The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is an international day against drug abuse and illegal drug trade and it is also known as World Drug Day. It was observed by United General Assembly on 7th December, 1987. Since 1989 this day is celebrated worldwide yearly on 26 June.

 

   Why world drug day is celebrated?

Drug itself is a problem which generates negative impact on the health of an individual. In order to create awareness about the consequence of drug abuse and trade word drug day is celebrated. The ultimate goal of celebrating world drug day is to provide information and awareness of negative effects that is to be caused by drug trade and drug abuse. By organizing different campaign related to drug abuse and Illicit trafficking we must be able to create the drug free society and the world. Being a part in any campaign related to drug makes us more informative about different drugs substances, if negative impact, how drug abuse leads to crime and a person to be a criminal. 

In general term we are aware of narcotics drugs, cocaine, heroin and their overdose may bring drastic change in one's nature towards anything else. But we are still not considering its risk as of now because we aren't getting involved into depth of knowledge regarding drug abuse. we are facing challenges due to drug abuse and humanitarian crisis and it shouldn't be taken for granted as it is going affect us sooner or later. The use of drug may lead a person to be a criminal as drug addiction itself control over mind and body. Drug abuse not only a problematic for an individual but also creates tension in family and friends. We have to play a role for any drug addicted person to overcome addiction and  influence them in a good way to deal with it.

                Reasons of Drug Abuse

There are so many factors of drug abuse, some of them are given below:

1.  It might be due to peer pressure.
2.  Due to enthusiastic feeling of early exposure to drugs.
3.  Physical and mental pressure and stress.
4. Lack of proper parental parental guidance.

While talking about the reason of drug abuse, it is important to figure out the solution on how we could make them a way to deal with addiction and to get rid of it. Though a person has been addicted to drugs either by peer pressure or due to mental stress we must be the guidance for them to overcome the addiction.

 

                   How can we prevent drug Abuse ?

1. . We must understand how drug abuse develops or become addictive.
2. . By avoiding peer pressure and staying away from bad influence.
3. . By generating friendly environment at home to share mental illness, anxiety disorders and depression.
4. .  By Being aware of physical, biological and environmental risk to overcome.
5. . Generating stress management skills.
6. . Understanding the consequence by the use drugs.

In a nutshell, drug abuse topic may not interest you in any way but you are likely to get affected as drug abuses are some factors that may have direct and indirect impacts in the society. We can simply be encountered with drug addict on our way to home, in public or elsewhere. Even though drug abuse might not be your interest you can at least be part of any campaign related to drug abuse or you could support any youth for not getting involved in bad influence and be conscious about drugs, its risk factors.
