 Mandandeupur Municipality is located in Kavrepalanchok which lies in Bagmati provenance of Nepal. It is nearby Kathmandu in the northeast with 55km difference. Kavrepalanchok is the one districts of Nepal which is also known with short term Kavre in general and kavre is well known for Palanchok Bhagwati temple. Among any changes in each development, establishment of Municipality can be taken as one of the developmental changes. Kavrepalanchok district consists many Municipalities and Mandandeupur is one of them. According to the data the municipality covers an area of 89 sq. Km. It has twelve wards in overall. Mandandeupur municipality came into existence since 2073 Falgun 27 (10 march 2017). It is surrounded by Bhamlu village municipality in east, Bhaktapur- Kathmandu in west, Sindhupalchok district in north, and Banepa- panchkhal municipalities in south. The total population of this Municipality is 32,659 in which 15,320 are males and 17,339 are females. The sex ratio is 88.36 and the population density is 367 per sq. km.

Mandandeupur municipality is still in its developmental phase as there are still things are to be done and some development project are running. Education system is improving more with practical study method and well - equipped infrastructure that are needed in school are now provided in most of the government schools as well. Medical clinics are providing basic health need and free medicine which has somehow given a great relief for people as they don’t have to reach all the way to city to busy basic medicine and simple wound treatment. And auto rickshaw has now given benefit to people as we can either reserve auto all by ourselves or we can ride a shared auto when needed.

Though there are 12 ward/woda in total where only few are given official name and some are name by ward number instead of names. As most of the wards are not urbanized completely, we can find animal husbandry and agriculture as the main occupation. People earn by selling milk, some vegetables and so on. In the recent phase people are taking interest in animal farming such as cows and buffaloes farming, goat farming, chicken farming and vegetable farming like tomato farming and cucumber farming. As most of the farming are able to be done just in seasonal basis, rainfall is one and only source for farming in some areas due to lack of canals.

 Changes after the establishment of Municipality

1. Rules over paying taxes.
2. One tap per home project (2073).
3. Recent pitch road project (2021).
4. Ongoing canal project named chakhola.
5. Establishment of clinic in most of the ward.
6. Manageable pitch road along with canal system.

 While talking about the political leaders or the members Tok Bahadur Waiba is the mayor of Mandandeupur Municipality and elected member Maite Singh Tamang became the president of wada no. 4 whereas, Vishnumani Nepal has become the deputy mayor after winning the election in the year 2079 B.S. After the election developing process is going in the positive way in which pitch road can be taken as the best example of progress. And various program of distribution of different agricultural equipment are given for farmers in this municipality along the collaboration with finance or micro-finance.

 

Hence, Mandandeupur municicipality is still in the developmental phase and some development works are ongoing. People doesn’t have to suffer from basic health, muddy road during rainy season in some ward due to pitch road, we don’t need to visit municipality office to pay tax as we can pay through nearby ward office. Mandandeupur municipality is planning to upgrade in tourism sector by building different temples, stupas, park and so on. Destruction doesn’t need time but construction need a period of time as development needs to be done in manageable way. “Rome was not built in a day”, likewise mandandeupur can’t simply take 360 degree in term of progress and all we can just hope is for the betterment of the municipality in the near future and may the elected party members could be able to make it happen. We can just witness the changes that are yet to happen in upcoming days.
