Sahid Diwas

Sahid Diwas/Martyrs day is the annual Memorable day which is celebrated in the memory of Martyrs who were killed by Rana Rulers because they raised voices against the Rana Regime or dictating rulers for the sake of the people but were killed by the order of prime ministers. Sahid Diwas is celebrated every year on 30th January i.e (Magh 16) by organising various programs in the memory of Martyrs.
In Nepal, Rana Regime lasted for 104 years which was from 1846 to 1951 and during that period people were not allowed to do things or raise their voice against Rana Rulers because of their dictating rules. People were bound to follow the rules and regulations made by the King and whoever tried to go against the king or prime ministers had to lose their life. While talking about the Rana Regime ruler Jung Bahadur Rana was the first who came in power in 1846 and Mohan Shamsher Rana was the last ruler of the Rana Regime as the king Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah took the power and became the first king of Nepal.
While talking about Martyrs of Nepal, Lakhan Thapa is the first martyr of Nepal and martyrs named Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, Gangalal Shrestha, and Shukraraj Shastri  were the one who fought against the Rana regime. It is said that during Rana Regime education was prohibited except for the Rana family members, Listening to Radio and riding bicycles was not allowed and people who tried to raise voice against Rana Regime was either given strict punishment or given death penalty. Rana Regime was the dictator ruling period where all the power was under the Rana family members due to which people had to suffer from strict rules and regulations, lack of freedom in education, human rights, freedom of speech and many more. Many other people specifically soldiers have sacrificed a lot for the nation and innocent people were also killed during Maoist movement and some were killed during the period of political strikes.
