  Sahid Diwas/Martyrs day is the annual Memorable day which is celebrated in the memory of Martyrs who were killed by Rana Rulers because they raised voices against the Rana Regime or dictating rulers for the sake of the people but were killed by the order of prime ministers. Sahid Diwas is celebrated every year on 30th January i.e (Magh 16) by organising various programs in the memory of Martyrs. In Nepal, Rana Regime lasted for 104 years which was from 1846 to 1951 and during that period people were not allowed to do things or raise their voice against Rana Rulers because of their dictating rules. People were bound to follow the rules and regulations made by the King and whoever tried to go against the king or prime ministers had to lose their life.   Maghe Sankranti is one of the festival  among Hindu as well as some other ethnic groups like Tharu, Magar, Newar etc which is celebrated every year in mid- January(magh) . Maghe Sankranti festival can also be called makar sankranti as it is believed that since this day sun into Capricorn sign that is called makar in Nepali zodiac name. Maghe sankranti is also the indication of chance of season from cold into warmer days and also the starting of spring season. Maghe Sankranti can also be taken as the day of get together of family members and relatives. In India, Makar Sankranti is celebrated but the celebration differ from Maghe Sankranti and as long as we have known from movies or series Indian celebrates maker Sankranti by worshiping Sun along with Gayatri Mantra, by having 'Khichdi' and Laddu made from Sesame seeds, flying kites, special feast, bonfire, dancing etc. In India Makar Sankranti is mainly celebrated as the harvesting season which is quite different than Nepal.  

 

               Losar is one of the important festivals that Buddhism follower celebrated each year with different events and with different names too in which Tamu Losar is one of them. Tamu Losar is also known as Tamu Lochar in which  lo - indicates  year   likewise  char/sar - refers to  new  so, it is observed as the new year by gurung community in Nepal.
